Google AdWords Tips #1

Jan 12th, 2010No Comments

I have just replied to a question on linked-in and decided that my answers were good enough to actually write about it in a blog!

So my first tip for people who might consider Google AdWords -

Does your website provide a page / information on the keywords that you would be bidding for? For example, if you had a pet store website – there would be no point bidding on “pet food” if you could only buy it from your shop, and not from the website. Don’t bring people to your website for a product or service that you are NOT currently representing on your website (but you know that you offer).

People coming to your site on the back of a click from Google AdWords EXPECT to see what they searched for – not your home page, or a “call us” from more details message.

Put simply – if it doesn’t appear on your website – don’t bid on it!

Great Success Story For Google AdWords and SEO

Just read a great story about a company that has worked from home, yet still been able to achieve a turnover of £460,000 per year.

It also highlights the power of Google AdWords and SEO, as well as the importance of eventually learning how to do it yourself.

For me this highlights exactly why we offer Google AdWords Training as well as the Google AdWords Management. We realise the importance of understanding how to do your own campaigns correctly. Equally some people decide they just do not have the time and let us manage their entire Google AdWords campaigns.

Google Search New Design?

Jan 5th, 2010No Comments

It looks like the Google Designers have been at it again with a new(ish) blue colour appearing occassionally on the search page and the search results page. Apparantly, according to the SEO roundtable blog, this has been “out” for sometime (about November last year) – however it is beginning to be seen more often. No idea at the moment when Google (or if Google) will launch this. But it looks nice and fresh to me.

Google PageRank Update

Jan 4th, 2010No Comments

The turn of the year saw the Google PageRank update take place.

The Google PageRank is available to view if you download the Google Toolbar to your internet browser. It can also appear on other SEO toolbars that you can install, (we use one on Firefox called SEO Book).

Google PageRank is no more than a “guide” as to how important Google sees your website page. It is something most search engine optimisation companies keep an eye on, however it is not as relevant as it once was. Saying that, if your PageRank is increasing, then you are certainly heading in the right direction with your web page.

We have seen ours increase to 2/10 in the recent update, which we are pleased with. As a general rule of thumb, if you can achieve a rating of 4/10 or above then your webpage should be proving popular.
